As a Sophomore (2012) - Played in all 17 games, making 14 starts in the midfield....took eight shots and five shots on goal....recorded an assist vs. Notre Dame de Namur (11/3).
As a Sophomore (2011) - Medical Redshirt
As a Freshman (2010)- A key contributor in the Sunbirds' midfield, Deniz started all 15 games she played in....recorded the assist on the team's first goal of the season to Jessica Pereschica in a 2-0 win over Marymount (8/28)....Scored all three goals in team's biggest win of the season, a 3-0 upset over #11 Cal Baptist (10/9)....that hat-trick earned her GSAC Offensive Player of the Week and NAIA Offensive Player of the Week....totaled 11 shots and seven shots on goal for the season.
Prior to FPU - Nayeli is a graduate of Mount Whitney High School in Visalia, where she played soccer under coach Andy Ayers...She was named MVP three years in a row...She was also named MVP of the West Yosemite League in her junior year...She was first-team All-League for three years...In addition to soccer, she was a member of the volleyball, cross country and track teams...Nayeli also played club soccer with the California Odyssey...Her team was league champion two years in a row...They went to Florida both years for nationals, and made it to the top 5 both times.
Personal - Nayeli was born in Woodland, CA and calls Visalia, CA her home...Her parents are Guillermo and Guillermina Deniz...She has two younger brothers, Memo and Josue...Her hobbies include dancing, volleyball and swimming...Nayeli has not yet decided on a major.
