Biography
As a Junior (2010)- Played in 12 games, making 11 starts for the Sunbirds….finished with a team-high 68 saves, a goals-against average of 1.49 and a save percentage of .810….recorded a shutout against #11 Cal Baptist (10/9) with nine saves…..named GSAC Defensive Player of the Week (9/6) when she held #1-ranked Concordia (Ore.) to one goal while recording eight saves....had a season-high 11 saves at Vanguard (10/23).
As a Sophomore (2009) - Started every game in goal for the Sunbirds....Recorded a career-high 13 saves in win at Holy Names (9/15)....Made eight saves to preserve 1-0 overtime win at Southern Oregon (9/11)....Recorded five shutouts.
As a Freshman (2008) - Catherine appeared in one of the Sunbirds' 16 matches as goalkeeper, making one save.
Prior to FPU - Catherine is a graduate of Central Valley Christian High School in Merced...She played club soccer for the Turlock Tornadoes Heat for two years.
Personal - Catherine was born in Merced but calls Atwater home...She is the daughter of Fred and Suzanne Michaelis…Her older sister, Michelle, graduated from FPU...She also has a brother, Charles…Her favorite athletes are Michelle Akers, Oliver Kahn and Lolo Jones...Her favorite movie is "Lord of the Rings"...She has traveled to Russia, Italy, Switzerland, Mexico and Canada...Her hobbies include coloring, sleeping and traveling...She plays the violin, viola and piano...She plays in her church band and the FPU baroque orchestra...Her home church is Creekside Evangelical Church in Merced...In addition to soccer, she is a member of the FPU track and field team...Catherine is a Mathematics major with a Coaching minor...Her career goal is to become a math teacher and soccer coach at the high school level.
