As a Junior (2019) – recorded a slew of lifetime bests over the course of a solid third season with the Distance Squad….clocked 10:559.06 in the 3000m at the Sunbird Invitational, 5:16.10 in the 1500m at the Kim Duyst Invitational, 18:44.74 in the 5000m at the Oxy Invitational and 39:45.71 in a breakout 10,000m performance at the PacWest Championships.

As a Sophomore (2018) – a key member of the FPU Distance Squad, she performed well in the 10,000m at the PacWest Championships (40:49.08)….clocked career bests in the mile (5:35.45) and two mile (11:49.41) at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival (3/30-31).

As a Freshman (2017) - had a strong showing at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, where she took 14th in the mile (5:42.75) and ninth in the two mile (12:15.65)….performed well at the Bulldog Invitational, where she finished the 3000m at 11:07.80.

Prior to FPU - Spent four years on the varsity track team at Roosevelt High School under head coach Ted Jeung....team captain for three seasons and made it to the state meet three times....competed on the soccer team, and was named Most Inspirational and team captain....competed on the lacrosse team, and was named team MVP and team captain....also competed on the cross country team for four years....participated in several other extracurricular high school activities, including orchestra, ASB, Improv, Mariachi, and Link Crew.

Personal - Daughter of Elodia Merquez....has two sisters, Consuelito and Suzanna....loves pasta....favorite movie is Frozen....roots for the Seattle Seahawks....favorite athlete is Lionel Messi....person she would most like to meet is Taylor Swift....favorite book is The Fault in Our Stars....Gracielita is a kinesiology major who plans to become a physical therapist.
