Biography
As a Junior (2018-19) – in the last regular season meet of the season, took second in the 100 breast (1:07.70) and 200 breast (2:26.22)….at the PCSC Championships, clocked a career-best 55.52 in the 100 free.
Prior to FPU - Spent four years on the varsity swim team at Merced High School under head coach Kit Grattan....won the Swimmer of the Year award....also competed on the varsity water polo team for three years....participated in theater during high school.
Personal - Daughter of Rocio and Alfredo Ortega....has one brother, Alfredo Ortega II....people she most admires are her parents....loves eating Italian food and pasta....favorite movie is The Outsiders....favorite book is The Winner's Curse....meditates as a pregame ritual....Mireya is a criminal justice major who hopes to join the FBI.
