Biography
As a Junior (2015) - Academic All-PacWest....had another quality season with the Sunbirds, highlighted by a 25:49.3 performance in the Santa Clara Invitational (10/17) and a 32:14.48 performance on the 10k course in the NCAA West Regional Championship (11/7).
As a Sophomore (2014) - saw significant growth in his second season with Sunbirds and consistently scored in FPU's top three....turned in a team and personal best time of 25:11.9 in the Santa Clara Invitational (10/18)....finished third overall in the Sonoma State Invitational, which the Sunbirds won (10/4) with a time of 26:28.17.
As a Freshman (2013) - was an important contributor on the Sunbird team that finished sixth in the PacWest....ran a season-best 26:43.0 in the Santa Clara Invitational (10/19), good for fifth on the team....competed well in the Stanislaus Invitational, finishing the 5k course in 15:52.9 (10/5).
Prior to FPU - Spent four years on the varsity track & field/cross country teams at Madera South High School under coach Richard Parris, helping the team advance to the state championships.....top times were 9:48 in the 3200, 4:22 in the 1600, 4:09 in the 1500, and 1:56 in the 800.
Personal - Born July 12, 1994....son of Pedro Villa and Antonia Berdejo....has seven siblings: Marco, Audrey, Alberto, Joanna, Alexander, Dayanna and Shirley....chose FPU because of its rich history in distance running and the Christian atmosphere....person he most admires is his brother Alexander.....favorite song is Sam Cook's "Change Gonna Come"....favorite TV show is Wilfred....Ismael is a social work major who would like to graduate and find ways to give back and help his community.
