As a Senior (2014) - Made 16 starts on the mound as the number one starter for the national champion Sunbirds....earned All-PacWest and NCCAA All-West Region honors while posting a 7-6 record with a 2.90 ERA and a team-high 91 strikeouts and 111 2/3 innings pitched....struck out season-high 12 batters vs. NCAA tournament qualifier Sonoma State, giving up just three hits and one run in 8 2/3 innings of a 2-1 win....tossed eight shutout innings with 11 strikeouts in win over San Francisco State....tossed seven innings, striking out 10 in win over Cal State Stanislaus....earned the win over Azusa Pacific in game one of the West Region finals....earned the win in the first game of the NCCAA World Series vs. Bluefield....picked up the save in the World Series title game vs. Lee to seal the national championship in his first bullpen appearance of the season....graduated as the program's all-time leader in career ERA (2.87) and second all-time in career strikeouts (173)....was named the FPU Athletics department "Senior of the Year".

As a Junior (2013) - Made 14 starts on the mound as the team's ace, earning NCCAA All-West Region honors while posting a 7-5 record and a 2.93 ERA with a team-high 82 strikeouts compared to just 40 walks in 98 1/3 innings....limited opponents to a team-low .223 batting average....struck out a season-high 10 batters at Point Loma (4/12)....threw seven scoreless innings and struck out five for the win over Hawaii Hilo (2/18)....tossed eight innings without giving up an earned run to pick up the win at Azusa Pacific (3/2)....went eight strong innings with seven strikeouts for the win over nationally-ranked Dixie State (4/19)....in the opening game of the NCCAA West Regional, tossed a complete game giving up just three hits and two runs while striking out nine to earn the win over Arizona Christian.

Prior to FPU - Played two seasons at Fresno State, posting a 2.89 ERA as a freshman and a 5.55 ERA as a sophomore....struck out six batters against Gonzaga in 2011....a graduate of Clovis West High School...played three years of varsity baseball under coach Kevin Patrick...recorded a 21-3 record on the mound for the Golden Eagles, being named TRAC Player of the Year, Valley Player of the Year and all-state as a junior after going 13-0 with a 0.80 ERA.

Personal - Born August 6...son of John and Marcie Salles...has one brother, Tucker...his father, John, played college baseball from 1986-1988 at Fresno State and for the Chicago Cubs organization from 1988-1994...chose FPU after hearing great things about the program from Sunbird alums Jesse Darrah, Derek Benny and Trent Soares...best friend on another team is Justin Charles of Cal State Stanislaus...favorite musical artist is Drake...favorite athlete and person he would most like to meet is Alex Morgan...attends Northside Christian Church...his hobbies include hanging out with friends, going to the gym and going to Disneyland...J.D. is a kinesiology major with plans of coaching collegiately one day.
