FRESNO, Calif. — Fresno Pacific junior libero Devyn Castaneda has earned her first career FloCollege/CCAA Defensive Player of the Week honor after helping the No. 4 Sunbirds remain undefeated in conference play with victories over Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State San Marcos.

Castaneda anchored the back row this weekend, totaling 56 digs across two matches while averaging 7.0 digs per set. Her standout performance came Friday night as the Sunbirds battled No. 9 Cal State San Bernardino in a five-set thriller. The Visalia native recorded a season-high 42 digs against the nationally ranked Coyotes, helping Fresno Pacific secure the 3-2 victory and remain perfect on the season. Castaneda also contributed six assists and a free-ball kill in the unforgettable win. She followed up her career-best defensive effort with a 14-dig performance in the sweep over Cal State San Marcos to close out the weekend.

This honor marks the third CCAA weekly award collected by Fresno Pacific volleyball this season, with Castaneda joining teammate and setter Mikayla Weiss, who earned back-to-back weekly honors earlier this year.

The Sunbirds improved to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in CCAA play. This season's performance has secured the program's highest-national ranking in the Division II era, sitting at the No. 4 spot with one first-place vote in the AVCA rankings. The 'Birds are currently one of three undefeated teams in Division II, alongside Ferris University and American International College (AIC).
